Job Description The Registered Nurse (Cardiology) is responsible for daily clinical operations pertaining to their scope of practice between designated offices; Southington and Wallingford. The Registered Nurse works clinically under the APP and MD of each office and reports to the RN Practice Supervisor. Collects and documents current health status and medical history and assists in scheduling patient office visits
  • Reviews patient records, including preoperative records, to ensure completeness and reviews outstanding issues with provider
  • Demonstrates independent nursing actions based on assessment and problem identification
  • Under direction of provider, calls in prescription medications to pharmacies and observes and documents patient's response to pertinent medications
  • Documents accurate and ongoing assessment of patient's needs, problems, capabilities, limitations, progress toward goals, and response to care
  • Triages telephone calls and displays ability to initiate appropriate nursing intervention in prompt, precise, and professional manner
  • Assists patients and family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respects confidentiality and privacy This position will also support the department(s) clinically via performance of the following: Diagnostic Stress Testing (under supervision of office APP or MD onsite) Heart Failure Bridge Clinic appointments Application of and patient education on Holter and Event Monitors Triaging event/holter monitoring reports IV Insertion/medication administration per MD order IV Insertion and performance of bubble study or Definity administration per MD order and Echo sonographer guidance Performance of Nursing Visit types including, Blood Pressure Checks, PT/INR Point of Care visits, Nursing Education visits for new medication administration Triaging patient phone calls and my chart messages Medication Refill Request entry and routing Qualifications Associates of Science in Nursing Highly effective verbal and written communication skills Must pass dysrhythmia test within 90 days of hire Current CT RN License (Or must pass within 90 days of hire) ACLS certified (within 90 days of hire) BLS required
Preferred Requirements:
2 years Ambulatory/Clinic Nursing experience 1 year Nursing experience in Cardiology/Cardio-diagnostics strongly preferred Language Skills•
