Job Description

St. Mary's Hospital needs a Pulm/Critical Care locum ASAP! Licensed only BC Pulmonology and Critical Care required Looking for coverage 1-2 weeks/month (must be the full 7 days, Monday to Sunday). Will consider hiring 2 LT's to split the coverage. Details
  • Reason for coverage: Need is because of sudden surge. Permanent hire doesn't start until 07/2021.
  • Start Date /
Dates of Coverage:
ASAP-Length of assignment/need: 3 months+, however long the surge lasts. 1-2 weeks/month
  • Schedule:
    12 hour shifts depending on volume. LT is responsible 24/7
  • Inpatient only: 1-2 weeks of ICU coverage (Monday to Sunday), 5 residents who work with the LT, 16 bed med surge closed ICU
  • Any Call:
    Residents and interns take first call
  • they will call LT with new admissions.
  • Average Number of ICU Patients Per Day:
    15 ICU patients with 5 residents working with them (that's what we did in the Spring)
  • Average Number of Admissions per Physician per
Day:
Average 4-5 during the day time. Hard to determine, it can sometimes be totally silent or upwards of 6-7.
  • Adult only or all ages? All adults
  • Trauma Level/Designation:
    Level 2
  • No trauma patients, the surgery residents take care of that
  • # of ICU beds: 16 med surgical ICU normally. Up to 15 patients/day, plus or minus 2.
  • All normal Pulm CC procedures required? Regular ICU procedures, residents mainly do them
  • APP support?
No, just the residents. Start date depending on credentialing and may change. Could be sooner if possible!
