Job Description

Duties Candidates must be Licensed in the District of Columbia.
  • Develop shift work assignments in accordance with available resources prioritizing care needs of the residents within thirty (30) minutes of beginning of shift.
  • Sign assignment sheets after discussing particulars with staff members.
  • Delegate to each LPN and CNA the level of authority and responsibility necessary to perform their assigned tasks. That is, establish a system of feedback on completion of assignment at intervals.
  • Make rounds as frequently as necessary to ensure safe adequate delivery of care to assigned residents.
  • Make rounds at least three times per shift, beginning, midway, and at end of shift; beginning and end of shift rounds are conducted with on coming and off going personnel.
  • Direct completion of assignments and/or immediate care needs to the appropriate staff members assigned to on coming and off going staff as indicated.
  • Communicate findings and status update to RCC/Shift Supervisor.
  • Develop and maintain a good rapport with all nursing personnel, and departments to assure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Collaborate with RCC and Shift Supervisor to ensure that enough Nursing personnel are available for your 8-hour tour of duty to ensure that adequate nursing care is provided to meet the essential prescribed/planned nursing care needs of each resident.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the shift, and unit.
  • Meet with your shift on a regularly scheduled basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, or the improvement of services.
  • Interact with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers in a diplomatic manner demonstrating good customer service skills.
  • Collaborate and participate with members of the interdisciplinary team in developing and implementation of individualized plan of care for each assigned resident.
  • Supervise nursing personnel in assigned areas relative to the technical aspects of resident care.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and make recommendations to Resident Care Coordinator and/or Shift Supervisor.
  • Participate in orienting and monitoring new employees to their duties and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with support staff to ensure medical records are maintained according to facility policy and other guidelines.
Qualifications Experience:
Must be a graduate of an approved School of Nursing; Must have a current RN licensure in the District of Columbia.
Education:
Must have a minimum of 4 years' experience as a Charge Nurse in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.
