Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic role supporting students as a Registered Nurse during the Extended School Year (ESY) program. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in a school community located near Naval Anacost Annex, DC. Provide essential care to students, including those who are medically fragile, and embrace the rewarding challenge of assisting with health needs in an educational environment.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Current, unencumbered RN license Experience in school or pediatric nursing preferred Comfortable providing care for medically fragile students, including those using wheelchairs Proficient in diapering/changing, blood glucose monitoring, diabetes care, and seizure management Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and their families Positive attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced setting
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care to students, especially those with specialized health requirements Monitor and respond to emergency health needs, including seizure activity and diabetes management Administer daily medications and maintain accurate health records in compliance with school policies Assist with personal hygiene, including diapering/changing and mobility needs Support health education and promote a safe, inclusive environment for all students Facilitate communication between the school, families, and healthcare providers
Role Details & Schedule:
Position is for one RN during ESY, with potential for continued placement in the new school year ESY dates: July 18 - June 17
Hours:
Monday-Thursday, 2:00 pm-6:00 pm; Full days Fridays (9:00 am-6:00 pm) for field trips Bring your expertise and compassion to a rewarding setting where every day presents new opportunities to help students thrive.
