Pediatric Nurse Practitioner La Red Health Center Inc, Georgetown, Delaware, United States About this position
Description:
The Nurse Practitioner (Pediatrics) is a licensed independent practitioner who provides routine pediatric health care and manages patients with acute and chronic complaints, in collaboration with the Director of Pediatrics and the Chief Medical Officer. Essential Responsibilities Assess and evaluate growth patterns. Educate patients and families about specific conditions related to children's development. Evaluate developmental milestones and educate parents about normal growth and development. Order and interpret laboratory diagnostic tests. Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic complaints in accordance with written standards. Obtain complex histories and perform patient physical exams, assessing normal or abnormal findings as per written procedures. Perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order laboratory studies, radiology exams, EKGs and other special exams to diagnose medical and surgical problems, and prescribe necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. Perform physical examinations, including well-child exams, school, and sports physicals. Provide preventive care and developmental check-ups. Act as a liaison between patients, their families, and doctors when necessary. Refer patients and their families to specialists, community resources, and communicate follow-up steps. Document and report concerns such as abuse, neglect, or developmental delays. Carry out patient care services, maintain a record of the patient's progress, and consult with the supervising physician when progress does not meet predetermined criteria. Order and furnish medications according to written standards. Participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Track quality assurance data and monitor for acute and chronic care management. Perform other duties as required or assigned. Requirements Education and/or
Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program, Current Advance Practice Registered Nurse License, Current Nurse Practitioner's certification in specialty area (Pediatrics), Current CPR/BLS provider card, Current DEA certificate without restriction, Minimum of 3 years previous experience in a family health center preferred.
Language Skills:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of providing medical treatment to infants, children, youth and young adults; Excellent communication skills to manage a wide range of relationships with colleagues, patients and their families; Emotional resilience, calm temperament, and ability to work well under pressure; Skills in teamwork and capacity to lead multidisciplinary teams; Problem-solving and diagnostic skills; Skill in reading and interpreting clinical data; Ability to respond quickly to emergencies occurring in the Health Center; Ability to treat, counsel and educate patients and their families; Ability to be mobile and sufficiently provide care to a variety of patients at an adequate pace; Manual dexterity sufficient to perform procedures typically performed in this specialty; Ability to work with ethnically diverse cultures; Ability to quickly familiarize and adapt to EMR system.
