Emergency Department Manager / Director of Nursing Position Summary The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for individuals presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergent conditions. This role requires critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and the ability to prioritize care while maintaining a high standard of patient safety and compassion. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments and triage using established protocols (e.g., ESI) Initiate and manage emergency nursing interventions based on patient condition and physician orders Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with hospital policies and scope of practice Monitor and evaluate patient responses, updating care plans as needed Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care Provide rapid response and stabilization for critically ill or injured patients Document all patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR) Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions Ensure compliance with infection control, safety standards, and regulatory requirements Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and supplies Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings Serve as a patient advocate while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress, fast-paced environments Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively Knowledge of emergency nursing standards and best practices Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer skills Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality care Education and Experience Current, active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license Minimum of 1 year of emergency or acute care experience preferred Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS)

• Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Required or within a specified timeframe Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Required or within a specified timeframe NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred Trauma certification (e.g., TNCC)
