Job Description

Position Summary:
Delivers professional and technical nursing care to patients presenting to Specialty areas. Nursing care delivered complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital. Adheres to the monitoring of and compliance with all licensing and regulatory agency guidelines including but not limited to
JC, ACHA, OSHA
OSHA, CMS, DCF, etc. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation when delivering nursing care. Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatments and examination of patients. Assists in planning, supervising and instructing LPNs, and PCTs. May take charge relief assignments occasionally. The professional nurse must possess strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work in a stressful fast paced environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess biophysical, biopsychological, self-care, environmental, equipment, learning and discharge planning needs of patient and significant others. Plans and documents an individualized plan of care based on data obtained from patient and/or significant others. Implements the clinical and technical aspects of care and the nursing orders in accordance with established policies and procedures or approved standards of care. Evaluate and review effectiveness of interventions and implementation of nursing care. Develops cooperative/ therapeutic relationships with patients and/or significant others and projects a positive cooperative and courteous image. Demonstrate the ability to deal effectively with assignments, the ability to organize and perform patient care routines, and the ability to utilize available resources. Demonstrates the ability to function independently to assure quality patientcare and promotes satisfactory productivity. Takes an active role in the unit by assuming control on assigned responsibilities as well as during emergency situations to assure completion of tasks. Demonstrate ability to adapt to young adult, adult, and geriatric patient populations by modifying interview techniques, identifying psychosocial, physical and educational needs specific to the patient's age. Assess patient needs and demonstrates the ability to interpret cardiac monitoring and takes appropriate actions as indicated by care. Documentation on the medical record is complete and concise. Required KnowledgeSkills Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and therapeutic components specific to the critically ill patient. Must possess good oral and written communication skills in the English language and able to communicate with all levels of the organization. Good organizational skills preferred. Basic computer skills required. Displays attentiveness, tact, confidentiality, and diplomacy in responding to others. Works together to maximize results within the department as well as throughout the hospital. Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to work process change, makes decisions and rakes appropriate actions to solve problems. Originates, develops, or implements new methods to accomplish objectives. Makes practical decisions and recommendations reflecting logical analysis of problem and/or issues. Conveys information in a concise, accurate, and understandable manner, ad applies confidentiality as appropriate.
Physical Demands Hearing:
Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking:
Must be able to communicate clearly to patients, physicians, co-workers and visitors in person and over the telephone.
Writing:
Must be able to accurately document pertinent information either by writing or typing.
Vision:
Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources.

Graduate from
School of Nursing Experience:
3 years' experience - preferred.
Software/Hardware:
License/Certification:
Current Florida Nursing License, Current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association or the Red Cross, Current ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association or the Red Cross
