Job Description

DESCRIPTION
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for providing high-quality nursing care and clinical support services within an outpatient healthcare setting specializing in behavioral health services, infectious disease testing and treatment, primary care coordination, and health education. Under the supervision of the Medical Provider, the RN performs a variety of professional nursing duties including patient intake, triage, nursing assessments, medication management, care coordination, infectious disease screening and education, behavioral health support, crisis intervention, documentation, and referral services. The RN will assist in maintaining a safe, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and therapeutic environment while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and quality assurance measures.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Conducts nursing assessments, screenings, and patient intakes in accordance with medical and behavioral health protocols.
  • Performs medical triage and assesses situations requiring medical or emergency intervention.
  • Assists providers with behavioral health, primary care, and infectious disease services.
  • Provides patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, HIV/STI prevention, infectious diseases, behavioral health conditions, and wellness practices.
  • Administers medications, treatments, injections, immunizations, and other clinical services as ordered by licensed providers.
  • Performs and/or assists with infectious disease testing, specimen collection, laboratory coordination, and follow-up care.
  • Maintains a trauma-informed, patient-centered, and culturally responsive environment for all patients.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to behavioral health crises and medical emergencies.
  • Coordinates referrals to community resources, specialists, behavioral health services, and support agencies when appropriate.
  • Utilizes effective infection prevention and infection control procedures and protocols.
  • Maintains timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation in accordance with policy, procedure, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicates effectively verbally and in writing with patients, families, healthcare providers, community agencies, and staff.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and safeguards protected health information.
  • Recognizes and reports equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, infection control issues, and environmental hazards.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, audits, staff meetings, training, and compliance activities.
  • Supports outreach, prevention, and health education initiatives within the community when needed.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, teamwork, and commitment to OCCN's mission and core values.
  • Arrives to work on time and maintains regular attendance and professional appearance.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Graduate of an Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN or BSN) program from an accredited institution.
  • Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Experience in outpatient healthcare, behavioral health, community health, infectious disease care, public health, or related healthcare settings preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations preferred.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care, HIV/STI testing and education, behavioral healthcare, and care coordination preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, healthcare delivery systems, behavioral healthcare practices, and infectious disease treatment protocols.
  • Ability to conduct assessments, triage patients, and utilize sound clinical judgment.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and infection control practices.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, peers, healthcare providers, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and culturally responsive practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer systems.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Possession of a valid Florida driver's license and acceptable driving record if driving is required for agency business.
  • Proof of personal automobile insurance if personal vehicle use is required.
  • Successful completion of Level II background screening in accordance with State of Florida requirements.
  • Completion of required trainings including HIPAA, infection control, HIV/AIDS education, CPR/First Aid, trauma-informed care, and other mandatory organizational trainings.
  • Compliance with all OCCN policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess patient needs and perform nursing duties.
  • Fine motor skills necessary for accurate documentation, medication administration, and clinical procedures.
  • Ability to work a routine Monday-Thursday outpatient schedule from 9:00 a.
