JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team in providing comprehensive mental health services to children and adolescents. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders in young patients, from infancy through adolescence. This role involves conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Demonstrate the ability to interpret and abide by confidentiality laws, abuse reporting guidelines, client rights requirements, and adhere to a code of ethical and practice standards Must be knowledgeable of Baker Act and Marchman Act Experience with counseling/psychiatric interventions Proficiency in client care protocol for children/adolescents Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal: must be able to articulate reports and evaluations regarding clinical and non-clinical issues Knowledge of medications for child/adolescent specific dosing Expertise in the stages of development in children/adolescents Aptitude for coaching children/adolescents about their illness at age appropriate levels Competence educating children about peer influence concepts to adolescents
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and create tailored treatment plans. Prescribe medications based on diagnosis Evaluate effectiveness of medications(s), including side effects or lack there of Educate clients, significant others, & staff about medications and interactions Provide consultation to staff about medication, treatment issues, & termination of clients' treatments Collaborate with other mental health professionals, educators, and families to support patient care. Perform mental status examination Determine Five (5) Axis Diagnosis based on DSM IV criteria, including GAF score Offer discussions on psychodynamics of evaluations (i.e. family environment) Deliver consultations concerning health status Review & sign-off on treatment plans, medication dividers, and insurance forms Provide correspondence regarding clients issues as appropriate to internal/external sources On-call duties rotation required for additional renumeration
OTHER MINOR OR OCCASIONAL TASKS
Attend medical staff meetings Participate in QI teams and committees to further performance improvement activities Crisis Stabilization Unit on-call as determined by Chief Medical Officer Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Pediatric Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with 3 years-experience treating pediatric populations. FNP licensure alone does not meet qualifications for this position. Education across the lifespan of patient and can see children.
