In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care within an educational setting, ensuring students receive prompt and effective health interventions. Your skills in patient assessment, medical documentation, and emergency response will foster a safe and supportive environment for learners to thrive.   • Provide direct nursing care for students and staff: assessment, first aid, treatment, and documentation of illnesses and injuries.
  • Triage and manage medical emergencies; initiate appropriate emergency response and communication with families and emergency services as needed.
  • Administer prescription and over-the-counter medications according to orders and school policies; maintain accurate medication records and secure storage.
  • Manage care plans for students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, severe allergies, seizure disorders); train and supervise staff or older students in care procedures when appropriate.
  • Maintain immunization compliance and follow-up with families to ensure required records are current.
  • Develop, review, and update individualized health plans, emergency action plans, and standing nursing orders in collaboration with parents, physicians, and school leadership.
  • Provide health education and wellness promotion to students, staff, and families; contribute to prevention programs (e.g., infection control, nutrition, mental health awareness).
  • Consult and collaborate with school leadership on health policy, communicable disease management, and public health guidance (e.g., outbreak response, vaccination protocols).
  • Maintain supply inventory, order medical supplies and equipment, and ensure the health office environment is safe, clean, and welcoming.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state/provincial, and federal health regulations and school policies; maintain confidentiality of student health information (FERPA/HIPAA as applicable).
  • Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on health-related issues and first aid training; provide professional development as requested.

Required Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. (Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) acceptable if supplemented by extensive school/pediatric experience.)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience; experience in pediatric, school, community health, or emergency settings strongly preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Experience creating and managing individualized health plans and administering medications in institutional settings.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent judgment, and ability to remain calm in emergencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with children, families, faculty, and external health providers.
  • Discretion and professionalism working with confidential student health information.
  • Valid background checks and any required clearances for working with minors.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and families.
