Req ID:
168624 BrightStar Care Gainesville is hiring a full-time Pediatric RN to serve as our clinical float nurse and field trainer. This is not a single-patient assignment. This is a role for an experienced pediatric nurse who is energized by variety, confident enough to step into any case on short notice, and genuinely motivated by helping newer nurses deliver better care. You will cover missed and open shifts across our pediatric caseload, provide clinical orientation and field training to new nursing staff, and support the office with clinical oversight as needed. No two weeks look the same — and that is the point.
Schedule honesty:
This role requires genuine schedule flexibility — days, evenings, nights, and weekends depending on coverage needs. If you need a fixed, predictable schedule every week, this is not the right role. If you are the nurse who is energized by variety and does not mind getting a call to cover a shift that needs filling, keep reading. What We Offer $38/hour — weekly pay with direct deposit Full-time benefits: medical, dental, and vision Clinical variety — no two shifts with the same patient every day Direct impact on the care quality of the whole pediatric program The opportunity to shape and mentor the next generation of pediatric PDN nurses at this office Referral bonus program What You Will Do Cover open and missed shifts across our pediatric private duty caseload — patients include trach/vent-dependent children, G-tube and J-tube patients, seizure disorder patients, and other medically complex pediatric conditions Provide paid clinical orientation and field training to new LPNs and RNs joining the team — including trach care, ventilator management, G-tube feeding, seizure protocols, and family communication Conduct supervisory visits and clinical assessments as directed by the Director of Nursing Support office operations by collaborating with scheduling and clinical teams when not in the field Serve as the on-call clinical resource for newer nurses who have questions during their shifts Complete accurate documentation for every patient encounter Requirements Must have: Active, unencumbered Florida RN license (or compact license valid in FL) Minimum 3 years of pediatric nursing experience Trach, ventilator, and G-tube experience — required, not preferred Genuine comfort with an unpredictable schedule and ability to work independently without immediate peer backup Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance Current BLS/CPR certification Strongly preferred: Prior experience precepting, mentoring, or orienting other nurses Home health or private duty nursing background Experience working with medically fragile pediatric patients in a home or
NICU/PICU
setting Who This Role Is For This role is a strong fit for an experienced pediatric RN who has been doing the same shift at the same facility for years and is ready for something different. You want to use the full range of your clinical skills. You enjoy teaching other nurses. You are the person colleagues call when they have a clinical question. A fixed schedule with the same patient every day is not what excites you about nursing. If that is you — and you have a Florida RN license and the pediatric experience to back it up — we want to talk. All prospective employees must comply with Florida AHCA background screening requirements. Educational information regarding the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse can be found at: https://info.clearinghouse.com BrightStar Care is an equal opportunity employer that complies with the laws and regulations set forth in the following EEO Is the Law poster: http://www.dol.gov/ofccp/regs/compliance/posters/pdf/eeopost.pdf BrightStar Care is committed to diversity and values the ways in which we are different.
