Job Description

A respected acute care hospital in Lake City is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join its emergency services team. This facility is recognized as an Accredited Primary Stroke Center, an Accredited Chest Pain Center, and holds Disease-Specific Certification for Sepsis treatment, reflecting a strong commitment to delivering high-quality emergency care. Position Overview The Emergency Department RN provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies. Working alongside physicians and interdisciplinary team members, this role combines clinical expertise, critical thinking, and compassionate care to support positive patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment. In addition to direct patient care, this position plays an important role in patient and family education, helping individuals understand diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care needs. Key Responsibilities Assess, monitor, and care for patients with urgent and emergent medical conditions. Perform nursing interventions and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. Conduct pain assessments and reassessments to evaluate treatment effectiveness. Monitor patient responses to medications, procedures, and interventions. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation within the electronic medical record. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care. Anticipate patient needs and respond proactively to changes in condition. Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans, medications, disease prevention, and post-discharge care. Promote patient safety and deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care. Qualifications Associate Degree in Nursing required. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Minimum of 1 year of acute care Emergency Department nursing experience required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 30 days of employment. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 30 days of employment. Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
