This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting physicians and advanced practice providers, coordinating treatment plans, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience throughout the continuum of cardiovascular care. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, patient-focused, and experienced in managing patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions in an outpatient setting. Cardiovascular nurses commonly support patient assessments, triage, medication management, cardiovascular testing, care coordination, and patient education.
Essential Responsibilities:
Clinical Nursing Care Conduct patient assessments and document findings in the electronic medical record. Review patient histories, medications, allergies, and treatment plans. Perform telephone and electronic triage for patients experiencing cardiovascular symptoms. Review and communicate laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic results as directed by providers. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards. Monitor patient status and identify changes requiring provider intervention. Cardiovascular nurses routinely assess patients, monitor symptoms, review diagnostic findings, and support treatment planning. Cardiovascular Services Perform and interpret basic cardiac assessments.
Assist with:
Electrocardiograms (EKGs) Holter Monitor Placement Event Monitor Placement Blood Pressure Monitoring Stress Testing Diagnostic Procedure Coordination Monitor patients before, during, and after cardiovascular testing and procedures. Outpatient cardiology nurses frequently assist with ECGs, stress testing, diagnostic procedures, and cardiovascular monitoring. Patient Education & Care Coordination Educate patients and families regarding cardiovascular conditions, medications, testing, treatment plans, and lifestyle modifications. Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, specialty testing, and follow-up appointments. Support transition-of-care initiatives and hospital follow-up programs. Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and administrative teams to ensure continuity of care. Ambulatory care nurses play a key role in education, care coordination, chronic disease management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and organizational policies. Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities. Maintain nursing licensure and required certifications.
Required Qualifications:
Education Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Licensure & Certifications Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) License in good standing. Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association). ACLS Certification preferred or obtained within 90 days of hire. Experience Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience. Experience in one or more of the following: Cardiology Internal Medicine Vascular Medicine Critical Care Telemetry Emergency Department Outpatient Specialty Practice Preferred Qualifications Outpatient cardiology experience. AthenaOne EMR experience. Bilingual English/Spanish. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong cardiovascular clinical knowledge. Excellent patient assessment and triage skills. Knowledge of cardiovascular medications and treatment plans. Strong communication and patient education abilities. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Why Join CVCFL?
