Job Description:
Performs and documents all procedures and assessments according to department policy. Obtains or delegates the obtaining of a nursing history and complete admission assessments, including pain screening. Evaluates patients for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, physiological norms, and signs of abuse or neglect. Conducts follow-up assessments and evaluations to monitor patient progress. Identifies patient teaching needs and provide education on a planned or spontaneous basis. Administers treatments and medications, interpret and verify physician orders, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies and investigate questionable situations. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and support departmental quality standards and initiatives. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE appropriately, perform hand washing according to policy, and enforce safety regulations. Takes clinical and operational direction from appropriate manager. Assesses and interpret data relative to patient age and developmental level, identifying increased physical/emotional dependency needs and evaluating the availability of support systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) [Preferred] Computer proficiency [Required] Good communication skills, both written and verbal, [Required] Must have knowledge and skill in providing care and initiating procedures for patients with medical and/or surgical conditions Must be competent in the use of a computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, stethoscope, blood pressure monitor, thermometer, glucose monitor, pulse oximeter, weight scale, ENT scope, personal protective equipment, and other patient care equipment necessary to perform required duties as appropriate to the scope of the practice Must tactfully handle delicate, sensitive, and sometimes, controversial issues related to the care of terminally ill patients and their families Must have good clinical judgment Must promote patient safety through effective communication Oncology experience [Required] Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures [Required] Ability to work as a team player within a unit [Required] Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills [Required] Knowledge of Radiation Oncology clinical pathways [Required] PACU, Pre•and Post-Anesthesia Knowledge [Required]
Education:
Associate's of Nursing [Required] Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Field of Study:

1+ acute care experience [Preferred] 1+ oncology experience [Preferred]
