Cath Lab RN Position Position Title:
Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Cardiology Clinic & Office-Based Cath Lab Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) functions as a key member of the outpatient cardiology and office-based catheterization laboratory team. This role provides direct patient care in both the cardiology clinic and procedural setting, including pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure support, post-procedure recovery, patient education, and care coordination. The RN promotes patient safety, efficient workflow, and high-quality cardiovascular care in an ambulatory environment. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCardiology Clinic Responsibilities Perform patient intake, assessment, vital signs, medication reconciliation, and documentation. Triage patient phone calls, symptoms, and urgent clinical concerns. Assist providers with outpatient cardiology evaluations and follow-up visits. Educate patients regarding cardiac conditions, medications, testing, procedures, and lifestyle modifications. Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, prior authorizations, and follow-up care. Review laboratory and diagnostic results with providers and communicate care plans to patients. Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record (EMR) documentation. Support chronic disease management for hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and peripheral vascular disease. Office-Based Cath Lab Responsibilities Prepare patients for cardiovascular procedures including IV access, consent verification, pre-op education, and procedural readiness. Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Monitor patient hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythm, oxygenation, and sedation recovery. Administer medications and moderate sedation per policy and scope of practice. Perform post-procedure monitoring, recovery assessment, and discharge education. Recognize and respond to procedural emergencies and complications. Ensure compliance with infection prevention, radiation safety, and sterile technique standards. Participate in inventory management, equipment checks, crash cart readiness, and quality assurance activities. Additional Responsibilities Collaborate with physicians, APPs, technologists, and administrative staff to optimize patient flow and outcomes. Maintain ACLS certification and competency in emergency response protocols. Participate in performance improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activities. Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards. Cross-train between clinic and procedural areas as needed. QualificationsRequired Current RN license in the state of FL Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred). Minimum 2 years of cardiovascular, critical care, emergency, or cath lab nursing experience. Current BLS and ACLS certifications. Strong clinical assessment and communication skills. Experience with EMR systems. ECW (Eclinicals EMR) + Preferred Previous outpatient cardiology or cath lab experience. Moderate sedation competency. Experience in ambulatory surgery center or office-based lab setting. IV insertion and recovery nursing experience. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient monitoring and equipment operation. Schedule Monday-Friday, No weekends On-call responsibilities may apply based on procedural volume. Work Environment Outpatient cardiology clinic and office-based cardiac catheterization laboratory. Fast-paced ambulatory procedural environment focused on same-day patient care and discharge.
Pay:
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
