RN PCU Cartersville, GA $1,944 a week - Travel nursing, Contract $1,944 a week - Travel nursing, Contract Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing! In this vital role, you will deliver exceptional patient care to individuals with complex medical needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and recovery. You'll utilize your expertise in acute care settings to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions that promote optimal health outcomes. Duties Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine care needs. Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, medication administration, and aseptic techniques. Monitor patients closely for signs of deterioration or complications such as acute pain or infectious disease symptoms; respond swiftly with appropriate interventions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans aligned with patient goals and medical orders. Document all patient interactions thoroughly using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpreting results; support imaging procedures such as sonography or CT scans when needed. Provide education and support to patients and their families on health management, discharge planning, and post-acute care needs. Requirements Valid RN license in the state of practice with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS certification preferred for critical care environments. Proven experience in acute care settings such as ICU, emergency room, or medical-surgical units; trauma center experience highly desirable. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is a plus. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to complex patient care. Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients or individuals with disabilities; familiarity with trauma medicine or hospice & palliative medicine is advantageous. Ability to perform advanced skills such as suturing, tube feeding management, ventilator operation, catheterization procedures (including Foley and central lines), phlebotomy, and sterile processing techniques. Excellent communication skills for effective triage assessments and interdisciplinary collaboration; commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance at all times.
