Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Pediatrics, where your expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families. Duties Perform thorough physical examinations and assessments of pediatric patients, including vital signs, anatomy knowledge, and physiological evaluations. Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusion, venipuncture, and aseptic technique, ensuring patient safety at all times. Assist with diagnostic procedures such as sonography, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and imaging studies like mammography or medical imaging when applicable. Manage airway and ventilator care for critically ill children in ICU or PICU settings, utilizing advanced equipment and protocols. Provide specialized care for children with developmental disabilities, dementia care needs, or those requiring long-term or hospice & palliative medicine support. Conduct patient education on health coaching topics such as nutrition, family planning, or post-discharge care plans including discharge planning and home & community care. Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR systems like Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency room experience or trauma medicine environments to deliver urgent pediatric care efficiently. Support infection control practices and aseptic techniques during procedures such as suturing or sterile processing to prevent infection transmission. Participate in case management activities related to pediatrics, including triage assessments and working with individuals with disabilities or complex health conditions. Experience Proven experience in pediatric nursing across diverse settings such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU (including PICU), neonatal ventilator management, or outpatient clinics. Demonstrated expertise in critical care experience with Level I/II trauma centers or teaching hospital environments preferred. Familiarity with
ICD-9/ICD-10
coding systems for accurate documentation and billing processes related to pediatric diagnoses. Hands-on experience with medical-surgical nursing practices involving tube feeding, catheterization (including ostomy care), and pain management strategies for children. Knowledge of infectious disease care protocols relevant to pediatrics along with proficiency in laboratory procedures like phlebotomy and specimen processing. Ability to work effectively with children of all ages—toddlers, infants, neonates—and their families while providing compassionate family-centered care. Experience working within EMR/EHR systems such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable. Strong understanding of physiology knowledge and medical terminology pertinent to pediatric nursing practices. Previous roles involving home care or community-based pediatric services are advantageous. Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are a plus for advanced practice settings.
