Job Description
Category Nursing - RN-MS Job Type Contract Provide skilled nursing care within a medically complex environment focusing on medical-surgical and telemetry patients. This role requires strong assessment capabilities, expertise in cardiac rhythm monitoring, and proficiency managing drip infusions and specialized procedures such as trach care and chest tube management. The position operates within a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma Teaching Hospital equipped with advanced technology and supported by a multidisciplinary team.

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with a minimum of 2 years medical-surgical/telemetry experience BLS certification required; ACLS preferred (travelers must pass an EKG competency exam) MedSurg certification is advantageous Proven skills with tracheostomy care, chest tube management, PIV starts, IV maintenance, and cardiac rhythm interpretation Competency in titrating drips such as insulin, heparin, Cardizem, and others as specified Effective time management, interdisciplinary coordination, discharge planning, and patient education skills Responsibilities include: Providing direct patient care primarily in med/surg and telemetry units with patient ratios of 1:4-6 Monitoring and interpreting telemetry data, managing post-cath care including groin site management Administering and titrating multiple IV drips based on patient-specific protocols Collaborating closely with nursing assistants, charge nurses, discharge planners, and physicians Participating in floating assignments across med/surg and telemetry units as needed Adhering to documentation standards using EPIC EMR and operating unit-specific medical equipmentScheduling & Work Environment:
12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A), rotating weekends (5-6 out of 12 shifts in a six-week cycle) Holiday work expectations include one shift per major holiday No call responsibilities Orientation includes one-day facility introduction and 2-day departmental training This contract position offers an excellent opportunity to build diverse clinical skills while working in a supportive, advanced care setting.
