Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-MS Job Type Contract Take on an impactful role supporting a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry unit within a renowned Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital. This contract position offers the opportunity to care for a diverse population, including post-op patients, those dealing with cardiac and metabolic conditions, and individuals recovering from complex surgical procedures.
Schedule/Hours:
12-hour shifts (7:00AM-7:00PM or 7:00PM-7:00AM) Every 6-week schedule cycle 5-6 weekend shifts within each 6-week period Holiday coverage required for one shift per major holiday
Desired Experience & Credentials:
Minimum of 2 years' recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience Will consider first-time travelers Active RN license BLS required; ACLS preferred Must pass EKG competency exam (BCR) National certification in medical-surgical or nephrology nursing is a plus
Key Skills:
Proficient in trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion/maintenance, central line care, and use of PCA pumps Competent in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation Strong med-surg nursing, wound care, and post-op assessment abilities Experience with glucommander, insulin, and heparin drips Effective care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education—especially regarding renal and fluid management
Role Responsibilities:
Manage a patient load of 4-6 patients per shift (with CNA and interdisciplinary support) Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced setting Provide acute/chronic care for a mix of medical-surgical, cardiac, and post-op patients Monitor and interpret telemetry, perform wound care, and facilitate safe discharges Benefits include free parking, access to strong support services (CNAs, RTs, secretarial staff, and resource nurses), and integrated technology such as EPIC, Alaris IV pumps, and Philips monitors.
