This contract nursing opportunity is ideal for an RN with strong med-surg and stepdown experience, supporting complex cardiothoracic, vascular, and general medical/surgical patients in a high-acuity, team-oriented unit.
Schedule/Hours:
Shift options: 7A-7P or 7P-7A Every 6-week scheduling cycle Weekend rotation: 5-6 shifts per 12 over 6 weeks No on-call requirement Holiday coverage: one shift on each major holiday
Qualifications:
Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of recent stepdown, progressive care, or similar med-surg experience Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and Basic Cardiac Rhythm interpretation required National medical-surgical certification preferred Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, and telemetry Strong cardiac monitoring/interpreting skills, med administration including titrated drips (to HR), experience with insulin/heparin drips, and care coordination Familiarity with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and cardiac telemetry monitoring preferred First-time travelers welcomed
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive care to a high-volume unit (census: 24 beds), focusing on pre-/post-op cardiac, vascular surgical, and stepdown progressive care patients Manage complex cases involving diabetes, CHF, hypertension, and post-LVAD Collaborate with a multidisciplinary support system: CNAs, resource nurses, 24/7 RT, hospitalists, intensivists, and centralized telemetry Oversee discharge planning, patient education, and interdisciplinary communication for optimal care transitions Float to other adult med-surg/telemetry units as needed
