Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical-Surgical team for night shifts. This vital role involves delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes for each patient. Responsibilities Work Schedule:

3 x 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM Provide comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients during overnight shifts, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs. Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and manage IV infusions with precision and adherence to protocols. Assist with preoperative preparations and postoperative recovery while ensuring strict aseptic techniques are maintained. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and support staff—to coordinate patient care plans. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Recognize and respond promptly to acute changes in patient condition, including pain management and airway management. Educate patients and their families regarding postoperative care instructions and discharge planning. Qualifications Current RN licensure with active state registration; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required. Prior experience in medical-surgical units or surgical settings; ICU or Level II trauma center experience preferred. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is advantageous. Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, medication administration, IV insertion, and catheter care. Excellent assessment skills coupled with critical thinking abilities in high-pressure situations. Experience working with diverse patient populations including those requiring complex pain management or post-acute care. Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining collaborative communication within the team.
