Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Contract Stepdown and Progressive Care Nurses play a pivotal role in patient recovery, providing intensive monitoring and care for individuals transitioning from critical to stable condition. This contract role is ideal for experienced RNs skilled in high-acuity settings who are ready to contribute expert care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
Active and unrestricted RN license Minimum of 1 year recent experience in Stepdown or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) environments Proven ability to assess, monitor, and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions Proficiency in using cardiac monitoring equipment, administering medications, and supporting ventilated or post-ICU patients Strong clinical documentation and communication skills Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Responsibilities:
Deliver attentive, evidence-based nursing care for patients requiring close observation following critical illness or surgery Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary staff to implement individualized care plans and meet patient recovery goals Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, lab values, and promptly escalate concerns Administer medications, manage IV lines, and provide wound care following protocols Educate patients and families regarding care processes, recovery expectations, and discharge planning Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with policy and regulatory standards
