POSITION SUMMARY:
This position serves as the point of contact for all of the school nurses, ensuring that the school nurses have the tools and resources to do their job at their respective schools to the necessary standards. Additionally, this position will serve as the nurse for the Williams James Educational Complex building.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Four-year degree from regionally accredited college in a nursing field. (BSN required). At least five years of successful nursing experience. Current Georgia Registered Nurse License. Current certification in CPR and First Aid. Experience working with a diverse group of people. Embodies the core values of the district; relational, purposeful, reflective, resourceful, courageous and accountable. Must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function of the position. Must be able to provide a criminal background check with results that adhere to Bulloch County Board of Education Policy GAK(1).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
School nursing experience. Current certification in American Heart Association Heartsaver Instructor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists principals in interviewing and hiring school nurses and recruits/retains substitute nurses. Serves as a resource for all school nurses on-site training and assistance. Conducts professional health service meetings. Provides information for staff development and community resources. Attends community meetings and seminars as beneficial to health services and serves as liaison to the local Public Health Department. Participates in departmental meetings and professional learning. Serves as the on-call nurse for students and staff in the William James Educational Complex. Conducts hearing/vision screenings for preschool students as requested. Participates in the HHB and Student Support Team process as requested. Conducts CPR/AED/First Aid certification classes for bus drivers and school staff as needed. Coordinates Audio van schedule. Obtains copies of licensure and CPR certification for all school nurses. Provides school nurses with education/training updates for standard precautions and health promotion for staff and students. Reviews and follows up on Medicaid billing statements from third party billing agent. Performs other duties as requested.
