Acute Dialysis RN Position Title:
Dialysis Nurse (Acute Dialysis RN)
Job Summary:
The Acute Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients requiring hemodialysis in hospital or acute care settings. The RN is responsible for assessing patients, administering dialysis treatments, monitoring responses, and ensuring safe and effective care.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess patients prior to dialysis treatment and review lab results Initiate, monitor, and terminate hemodialysis treatments Operate and troubleshoot dialysis machines and equipment Monitor vital signs and patient response during procedures Manage vascular access (AV fistula, graft, catheter) Administer medications as prescribed (e.g., anticoagulants) Document treatment details accurately in EMR systems Collaborate with nephrologists and multidisciplinary care teams Respond effectively to dialysis-related emergencies
Required Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license BLS and ACLS certification (preferred) Experience in acute or chronic dialysis nursing preferred Knowledge of renal disease management Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
Preferred Skills:
Hemodialysis machine operation Infection control practices Emergency response management Patient education and care planning
