Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) care to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult patients across various medical-surgical units, ensuring high standards of patient safety, comfort, and recovery. The ideal candidate will possess a broad skill set encompassing acute care, patient assessment, medication administration, and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Guaranteed Hours:
36 Hours Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation. Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while maintaining aseptic technique. Monitor patients' conditions closely, recognizing signs of deterioration and responding promptly to emergencies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. Utilize EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation and record keeping. Perform procedures including IV insertion, catheter care, suturing, and specimen collection with precision. Manage acute pain and facilitate discharge planning by educating patients on post-care instructions. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information. Support infection control practices and adhere to NCQA standards for quality care delivery. Assist in triage assessments for incoming patients in urgent or emergency situations. Qualifications Valid RN license with current registration in the applicable state or jurisdiction. Minimum of two years' experience in medical-surgical units within hospital settings. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and laboratory procedures. Strong clinical skills including IV infusion, venipuncture, airway management, and aseptic techniques. Experience working in diverse environments such as ICU, emergency room, telemetry, or step-down units preferred. Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced settings while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patient education. Additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are advantageous.
