Job Description

Company Overview Dubuque Rheumatology is a welcoming small office dedicated to providing specialized rheumatology care. Our team includes CMA, an x-ray technician/receptionist, and a biller/coder/office manager, working Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no on-call, weekend, or holiday shifts. Overview We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our compassionate team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to work effectively in a specialized outpatient setting. This role offers an opportunity to deliver high-quality care in a supportive environment while utilizing diverse nursing skills across various medical disciplines. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history documentation, and physical examinations. Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions and immunizations such as botulinum toxin treatments. Assist with diagnostic procedures such as laboratory specimen collection, processing, and basic imaging support like X-ray or ultrasound when necessary. Educate patients on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications tailored to rheumatologic conditions. Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support clinic operations by triaging patient concerns, coordinating follow-up care, and managing patient flow efficiently. Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment plans for patients with complex conditions like autoimmune disorders or chronic pain. Qualifications Valid nursing license (RN) with current certification; additional certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support) required. Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing, outpatient clinics, or specialty areas such as rheumatology or orthopedics preferred. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner; experience with medical documentation standards is essential. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to chronic disease management. Experience administering injections (including Botox or dermal fillers), IV infusions, and performing sterile techniques such as suturing or catheter care preferred. Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication within the healthcare team. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times.
