Luke's Hours:
8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday The Sepsis Coordinator provides clinical direction and oversight of the operational activities of the UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Sepsis Program. This role collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure adherence to evidence-based sepsis care guidelines and regulatory requirements. The Sepsis Coordinator supports program monitoring, performance improvement, and staff education initiatives to improve early identification and treatment of sepsis. Responsibilities:
Provides clinical leadership and coordination for the hospital's sepsis program. Collects and analyzes sepsis program data to evaluate compliance with clinical guidelines and regulatory measures. Reviews data regularly to identify trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities. Partners with clinical teams to implement process improvements that enhance sepsis recognition and treatment outcome. Promotes education and communication related to early recognition and treatment of sepsis. Provides training and guidance to physicians, nurses, and clinical staff regarding sepsis protocols and best practices. Assists with development and review of sepsis policies, procedures, and clinical pathways. Serves as a resource to clinical teams regarding sepsis care processes and regulatory expectations. Collaborates with hospital departments to support consistent sepsis care practices and improve patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of an accredited nursing program.
Certificate/License:
Valid IA nursing license Basic Certified Life Support certification prior to hire.
Minimum Experience:
2 Years experience caring for patients with sepsis or critical illness
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
: Basic computer knowledge. Successful completion of unit orientation and competencies. Must be able to communicate effectively and read, write, comprehend & speak English.
