Position Highlights Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.
Responsibilities:
The Nurse Navigator serves as a consistent care coordinator, ensuring timely access and seamless coordination of services throughout the continuum of oncology care. The Navigator will meet with patients and families to provide emotional support and guidance following the diagnosis of cancer through end state disease if necessary. Provide medical information; education; and share knowledge regarding internal and external support services and resources.
Responsible for facilitating:
rapid scheduling, coordination follow-up care and tracking patients to ensure completion of recommended treatment plan. Identify and assist patients and families in eliminating potential barriers to care by identifying and referring to appropriate resources. The Navigator will be an integral part of and professional member of the Interdisciplinary Team promoting optimal patient. Serves as the tumor board coordinator; a responsibility that requires extensive preparation, facilitation during sessions and submission of detailed documentation to the accreditation panel following each meeting.
Job Requirements:
Active IA RN license Minimum 1 year oncology experience required Oncology Nurse Certification preferred Excellent communication, organization and time management Must be a caring communicator, flexible, able to multitask and be comfortable with technological systems
Job Schedule:
60 hours per pay period (full-time benefit eligible) 7:30a-5p; Mon-Fri On-call every 6-8 weeks with nursing rotation The schedule may fluctuate based upon needs of the department Spencer Hospital offers competitive wages, affordable insurance, IPERS retirement, in-house education, paid time off, family gym membership and so much more!
