Responsibilities include assisting the nurse manager with staffing, Kronos and performance appraisals and participating in 2nd level coaching and/or disciplinary actions with the nurse manager and human resources. Critical Care Highlights 26‑bed ICU comprised of two specialized 13‑bed units: Trauma-Neuro ICU Cardiac ICU ACS Level II Trauma Center designation VA and VV ECMO with bridge‑to‑recovery capability 24/7 on‑site intensivist coverage for all ICU patients Dedicated Rapid Response Team staffed by critical care nurses Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence‑based practice Comprehensive onboarding and training program designed to build confidence, support professional growth, and promote long‑term success—an exceptional opportunity to advance your critical care career while making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes
Responsibilities:
Assures quality, safety and satisfaction outcomes are met on his/her shift Coordinates appropriate patient placement and facilitates patient flow Works with staffing office to determine appropriate staffing based on census, patient acuity, and skill mix Adjusts assignments and staffing levels as needed throughout shift and addresses any conflicts as they arise Demonstrates ability to adapt model of care delivery to resources available Escalates safety concerns appropriately and participates in patient safety initiatives Assures emergency readiness-crash cart and other safety checks are completed per unit requirement Ensures that policies, procedures, and protocols are utilized to prevent staff injury Upholds Nursing by-laws and Professional Practice Model; uses chain of command and Kootenai Health's Patient Care Concern Algorithm as needed for physician communication Maintains compliance for accreditation standards Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications :
BSN or active enrollment and completion required within 6 months of hire Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program Licensed as a RN by the Idaho Board of Nursing OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multi-state privilege to practice" compact with Idaho Minimum of 2 years' leadership or nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred BLS required from American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or Healthcare Provider Card from the American Heart Association ACLS, if required by the department Procedural Sedation, if required by the department Kootenai Health approved professional certification to be obtained within 12 months or when eligibility requirements are met
