Sandpoint Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Per Diem Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to join our outpatient surgical team in Sandpoint, Idaho. This is not just another per diem nursing position. Role:
As a Pre-Op/PACU RN , you will provide care and support to patients before surgery and during recovery from general, regional, and local anesthesia. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing leadership, and our clinical team to help create a safe, smooth, and reassuring experience for every patient. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a fast-paced outpatient surgery environment, communicates clearly, takes initiative, and values being part of a close-knit team where everyone's contribution matters.
What You'll Do:
Assess, educate, and prepare patients prior to surgery Ensure operative and informed consents are completed accurately Collect and document vital signs and patient information to confirm readiness for procedures Start IVs and demonstrate strong IV placement skills Monitor patients before and after procedures Assess and respond appropriately to post-operative conditions Recognize and report significant changes in patient condition Administer medications according to standards of care Provide compassionate post-anesthesia recovery care Respond appropriately to post-operative needs or emergencies Provide pre-operative and discharge education to patients and families Include family members or significant others in patient care when appropriate Document care accurately, clearly, and timely Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, nurses, and surgical staff Participate in quality improvement, staff education, and a culture of continuous excellence
What We're Looking For:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program Current Idaho RN license in good standing Current Health Care Provider BLS certification Current ACLS certification Minimum of 1 year of Pre-Op/PACU experience preferred Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills Ability to maintain pace in a high-volume outpatient surgical setting Professional, reliable, flexible, and team-oriented approach Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal form Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and high-quality care Proof of identity and right to work in the United States Why Sandpoint Surgery Center? Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, stretch, assist with patient transfers, and use proper body mechanics. Team members may be required to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and assist with moving, lifting, or transferring patients, instruments, and equipment up to 50 pounds. Fine motor skills, visual acuity, and auditory acuity are required.
Pay:
$40.00 - $52.00 per hour
