None About the Role MedOp Solutions is partnering with a healthcare facility in Arlington Heights, Illinois to hire a Registered Nurse for a 13-week Oncology contract assignment. This role offers the opportunity to care for adult oncology patients in an 18-bed inpatient oncology unit. The patient population includes individuals receiving treatment for cancer-related complications such as anemia, neutropenia, pain management, respiratory conditions, and end-of-life care needs. While inpatient chemotherapy is administered on the unit, contract nurses will not be responsible for chemotherapy administration. This assignment is ideal for compassionate nurses who enjoy building meaningful patient relationships while providing high-quality care in a supportive and collaborative environment. Oncology experience is preferred but not required for candidates with strong acute care nursing experience. Required within nursing scope of practice Patient Types Common patient diagnoses include: Oncology-related anemias Pain management Neutropenia Shortness of breath Pneumonia Cancer-related complications Inpatient hospice patients Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology and hospice patients Perform patient assessments and monitor changes in condition Administer medications and treatments as ordered Manage symptoms and provide supportive care Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and care needs Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC Float to other units within scope of practice as needed Support patient-centered and compassionate end-of-life care Qualifications Active Illinois RN License required BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required Oncology experience preferred but not required Strong assessment and critical thinking skills Excellent communication and patient advocacy skills EPIC experience preferred
