Duties Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques, including IV infusions, suturing, and medication administration for pain management or specialty treatments like botulinum toxin therapy. Manage complex clinical procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, wound care, ostomy care, wound care, and ventilator management in various settings including ICU, emergency room, outpatient clinics, or long-term care facilities. Coordinate patient care plans through case management strategies, discharge planning, and collaboration with physicians in specialties like cardiology, ophthalmology, infectious disease care, or geriatrics. Perform diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy, and basic diagnostic assessments utilizing laboratory experience and medical imaging knowledge. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations while maintaining accurate medical documentation and medical records. Provide patient education on health coaching topics including nutrition, medication adherence, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes or heart failure), and post-acute care instructions. Skills Proven experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for documentation and order entry. Strong clinical skills in acute pain management, trauma medicine (Level I & II trauma center experience), ICU experience, or emergency medicine environments. Expertise in specialized procedures including catheterization (cardiac or urinary), suturing techniques, IV insertion/infusion therapy, and sterile processing techniques. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, and familiarity with medical terminology for accurate documentation and billing. Experience caring for diverse populations such as pediatrics, geriatrics (including dementia & Alzheimer's care), neonatal ventilator management or patients with developmental disabilities. Ability to perform physical examinations with anatomy knowledge and physiology understanding; skilled in diagnostic evaluation and specimen collection/processing. Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration in hospital medicine or outpatient settings.
