Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting the health and well-being of students in a dynamic high school environment. This contract opportunity offers a fulfilling position where your skills as a Registered Nurse make a tangible difference every day. You will work closely with other dedicated nursing professionals, ensuring students receive exceptional care during school hours.
Key Qualifications:
Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution preferred Prior experience working in a school setting is advantageous Strong abilities in crisis response and emergency medical care Proficiency in specialized procedures, such as g-tube feedings Demonstrated knowledge and experience in caring for medically fragile students
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee and provide direct nursing care for up to 13 medically fragile students, with a current caseload of 6 Collaborate with a skilled nursing team to provide comprehensive healthcare support at the high school Respond rapidly to medical emergencies and manage crisis situations with confidence Administer medications, conduct health assessments, and execute physician-ordered medical procedures Maintain detailed, confidential health records in accordance with school policies and state regulations Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students and staff This position offers a consistent weekday schedule from 7:30am to 3:45pm, including a lunch break, and the chance to work alongside experienced healthcare colleagues—giving you both support and collaboration in your daily practice.
