Medical Imaging Nursing Job Description Job Summary:
The nurse navigator provides comprehensive coordination of care for patients and their families/caregivers from screening to detection to diagnosis and treatment.
Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Responsible for the planning, scheduling, and implementation of day-to-day clinical activities and procedures for mammography and CT lung screening programs
  • Guides patients and families through the screening, enrollment, and scheduling process
  • Assist patients with referrals to outside resources and care coordination as needed.
  • Ensure programs meet ACR and MQSA guidelines
  • Stays current with relevant and current literature and practice standards
  • Participates in the lung cancer network meeting and other relevant committees deemed necessary
  • Organizes and/or participates in program outreach
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Provides educational programs and in-services to hospital coworkers and community to increase awareness
Position Qualifications:
  • Active IL nursing license from an accredited nursing program Requires excellent leadership, organizational, written, and verbal communication and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to implement professional and community-based education programs
  • Knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft applications
  • Current BLS certification to be renewed as required
Experience:
  • 1 year of nursing experience preferred 2
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong customer services skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Assessment skills to include the assessment of psychosocial needs
  • Effective time management
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Able to work in stressful conditions with a positive attitude
  • Proficient computer skills Physical Demands
  • Work is performed in an office setting
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull objects up to 25 pounds
  • Stand and/or walk for more than four (4) hours per day.
