1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Interventional Radiology position at a Level II Trauma Center in Elgin, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of IR experience and an active IL RN license. Details Work setting is an Interventional Platform at a 255-bed, Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center located in Elgin, IL Unit consists of 1 IR room and 2 smaller procedure rooms for minor procedures such as drains, biopsies, and para/thoracentesis Patient population includes adult inpatient and outpatient cases averaging 10-20 patients per day General/Body IR procedures include peripheral diagnostic and intervention, thrombolysis, chest tubes, kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, paracentesis/thoracentesis, CT/RFA ablations, G-tube placement and exchanges, PICC placement, tunneled and temporary dialysis catheters, nephrostomy tubes/nephroureteral stents, dialysis grafts, drain placements, biopsies, TIPs, Y90s, and chemo/coil embolizations — no Neuro IR EMR is Epic; experience preferred Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, Merge hemodynamics, GE PACS, and Siemens and Philips imaging rooms (Inari and Penumbra devices also used) Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8-hour day shifts (40 hours/week) On-call required: 10-11 call shifts per month, including 2 weekends per month (Friday/Saturday/Sunday); weekday call hours are 1630-0800, weekend call runs 1630 Friday through 0800 Monday 30-minute on-site response time required for call shifts Call team consists of 3 members: 1 nurse, 1 tech, and 1 nurse or tech; no sleep rooms available May float to the Cath Lab to assist if trained and comfortable Requirements Active IL RN license required Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of IR experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Experience with general/body IR procedures and patient types as listed above Ability to circulate, sedate, and perform cardiac rhythm interpretation; comfort with pulling lines preferred At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration Candidate middle name or initial required for consideration Additional Information Facility holds Magnet designation and is a Primary Stroke Center Charge Nurse is present and may occasionally take a patient assignment or cover breaks RT and Hospitalist support available 24/7; Radiologist on-site during the day and on call at night RRT/Code Team will respond to codes in the lab Orientation includes facility NEO followed by 2-3 8-hour unit-specific orientation shifts Facility is closed on holidays; call coverage required for 1-2 holidays per contract RTO requests must be approved by the manager Procedural scrubs are provided by the facility Free parking is available on-site Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restrictions apply Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible The job description does not specify whether first-time travelers are accepted for this position
