Required About the Role MedOp Solutions is partnering with a leading acute care hospital in Illinois to hire an experienced PACU Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment. This position is ideal for a highly skilled recovery nurse with a strong critical care background who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment. The PACU RN will provide comprehensive pre•and post-procedural care, monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, and collaborate closely with surgical, anesthesia, and critical care teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have prior PACU experience in an acute care hospital setting, strong assessment skills, and the ability to manage a wide range of post-operative patients. About the Unit The PACU team provides care for patients recovering from a variety of surgical and procedural interventions. This assignment includes working in both the Main PACU and Cardiovascular PACU (CVI PACU), providing exposure to diverse patient populations and recovery needs. The unit emphasizes patient safety, rapid assessment, multidisciplinary collaboration, and excellence in post-anesthesia care. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia recovery care for surgical and procedural patients Monitor and assess patients recovering from sedation and anesthesia Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition Manage airway support, pain control, and post-operative complications Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary care teams Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders Perform detailed patient assessments and recovery documentation Float between Main PACU and
CVI PACU
as needed Ensure compliance with patient safety and quality standards Qualifications Active Illinois RN License required Minimum 3 years of acute care hospital nursing experience required Critical Care PACU experience in an acute care hospital setting required At least one completed travel nursing assignment required BLS certification required ACLS certification required PALS certification required Strong critical care and post-anesthesia assessment skills Must submit with a passing EKG test score of 80% or higher Scheduling & Expectations 36 hours per week Rotating start times between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM PACU coverage through 8:30 PM Weekend and holiday coverage required through call rotation Floating required between Main PACU and
CVI PACU
Call Requirements 4-5 weeknight call shifts during each 6-week schedule Call hours: 8:00 PM•7:00 AM Two 24-hour weekend call shifts during each 6-week schedule Holiday call participation required according to department rotation Orientation 4 Hours Orientation (Non-Billable)
