Job Description
GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Position purpose Responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients including assessment, treatment, care planning, and medical care evaluation by following established standards and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physicians.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks :
Provides general nursing care to patients within a busy G.I. clinic and Endoscopy suite. Demonstrating knowledge of age specific differences in the patient population including physiological and developmental differences unique to each group. May perform infusion services, initiating and maintaining intravenous lines and tubing to administer medication and drug therapy to patients as required. May educate patients on drug therapy protocols to ensure understanding and adherence. Provide triage as needed, assess patient needs, document relevant information in the patient's medical record, relay appropriate information to physician and other members of the clinical team. Phones in prescriptions and returns calls to patients as required, or directed by physicians. Maintains current knowledge of G.I. nursing and function as a resource to junior level staff. Must demonstrate an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation. May perform other clinical and/or administrative duties as assigned by Practice Administrator or Clinical Manager (within general scope of skills…) QualificationsEDUCATION
RN degree. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two-years professional nursing experience, clinic and gastroenterology experience preferred.REQUIREMENTS
Current state registered nurse license. Current CPR certificate.Performance Requirements:
Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and functions; and community resources. Understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures. Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment. Skill and knowledge in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and medical care coordination. Skill in verbal and written communication. Skill in initiating appropriate crisis interventions and emergency response calmly and effectively. Skill in patient triage in person and on the phone. Skill in preparing/maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence. Ability to analyze options and then counsel patients and families about choices and make referrals to other providers and resources. Ability to read and interpret physicians orders and notes from other providers. Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results.
