Job Description

Company Overview Prairie Village Healthcare Center is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility committed to delivering outstanding short-term rehabilitation and long-term care services. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals provides compassionate, personalized care in a supportive environment, ensuring each resident's dignity and well-being are prioritized. Job Overview The Infection Prevention Nurse (RN) is responsible for the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role works collaboratively with residents, staff, physicians, and leadership to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections and ensure a safe environment for residents, visitors, and employees. Infection Prevention Program Management Implement, and maintain the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program. Conduct ongoing infection surveillance and identify trends, outbreaks, and infection risks. Investigate suspected and confirmed infections and implement appropriate interventions. Monitor compliance with infection prevention policies and procedures. Maintain records and reports related to infection surveillance activities. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including those established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state health departments. Participate in surveys, audits, and inspections related to infection control.. Provide infection prevention education and training Conduct orientation and annual competency training related to infection prevention practices. Educate staff on proper hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE), isolation precautions, and outbreak management. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities. Analyze infection-related data and prepare reports for leadership and quality committees. Recommend and implement corrective actions to improve infection prevention outcomes. Monitor antibiotic stewardship initiatives and collaborate with providers regarding appropriate antibiotic use. Lead infection control efforts during outbreaks of communicable diseases. Employee Health Responsibilities Assist with employee infection prevention practices, including immunization programs and exposure follow-up. Monitor employee compliance with infection prevention requirements. Provide guidance regarding work restrictions and return-to-work criteria related to communicable diseases. Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing within the state of practice. Experience Minimum of 1-3 years of nursing experience required. Long-term care or skilled nursing facility experience preferred. Infection prevention, quality improvement, or public health experience preferred. Certifications Infection Preventionist training completed or willingness to complete specialized infection prevention education within required timeframes. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred but not required.
Pay:
$47.00 per hour
