This position involves providing direct patient care, managing health issues, and ensuring a safe and healthy school atmosphere. The Nurse will collaborate with educators, parents, and healthcare providers to support students' physical and emotional health needs. Duties Conduct health assessments and screenings for students to identify health issues. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers. Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with chronic conditions. Provide first aid and emergency care in cases of injury or illness. Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with state regulations. Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention. Collaborate with community health resources to support student health initiatives. Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with state mandates. Act as a liaison between the school, families, and healthcare providers. Skills Proficient in medical office procedures and patient care protocols. Knowledgeable in Durable Medical Equipment (DME) usage and management. Familiarity with ICD-9 coding for accurate documentation of medical diagnoses. Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including developmental disabilities. Skills in administering dermal fillers when necessary for specific student needs. Competent in venipuncture techniques for blood draws as required. Background in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) practices or trauma medicine is advantageous. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. This position is essential for fostering a healthy learning environment where students can thrive academically and socially.
