Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) care to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult patients across various medical conditions within a dynamic hospital or clinical environment. The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of clinical expertise, including experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth, and demonstrate proficiency in diverse nursing procedures. $10,000 Sign-On Bonus (2-year agreement) Possible Relocation Assistance Career Growth & Education Opportunities Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories to inform individualized care plans. Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and medication management in accordance with physician orders and safety protocols. Perform advanced procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile dressing changes while maintaining aseptic technique. Monitor patients' physiological status continuously, utilizing laboratory results, diagnostic evaluations, and physiology knowledge to detect changes requiring intervention. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning, case management, and patient education tailored to individual needs. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining confidentiality of medical records and documentation. Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), ensuring adherence to NCQA standards. Manage acute pain and infectious disease cases effectively within a Level I or Level II trauma center setting when applicable. Support triage processes in emergency or urgent care settings by prioritizing patient needs based on severity. Demonstrate proficiency in laboratory specimen collection/processing and diagnostic evaluation procedures. Provide specialized care for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal ventilator management, dementia care, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Maintain proficiency in airway management techniques such as ventilator support and oxygen therapy. Engage in ongoing professional development related to hospital medicine, critical care transport, hospice & palliative medicine, or other specialized fields. Experience Proven clinical experience in medical-surgical units within hospital settings or outpatient clinics. Demonstrated expertise working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is preferred. Experience handling complex cases involving acute pain management, infectious diseases, trauma medicine (including Level I/II trauma centers), or ICU environments. Background in critical care experience including ICU or PICU settings is highly desirable. Prior work in diverse healthcare environments such as home & community care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care settings. Skilled in performing invasive procedures like phlebotomy, venipuncture, sterile processing techniques, ostomy care, and gastrostomy tube management. Knowledge of occupational health protocols and Workers' Compensation law is advantageous. Experience with medical imaging procedures such as sonography or mammography is a plus. Ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced environments including emergency room or urgent care settings while maintaining high standards of patient safety.
