Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students and school staff as a dedicated nurse for the full school year! This full-time position provides the chance to make a meaningful difference, offering compassionate care and medical expertise in an educational setting. Your background as an RN or LPN makes you uniquely suited for a school-based nursing role. You'll be relied upon for your vigilance, clinical knowledge, and ability to foster a supportive environment within the school community.
Ideal qualifications and experience:
  • Valid and active Illinois RN or LPN license
  • School nursing or pediatric experience is highly valued
  • Knowledge of common conditions seen in school-aged children, such as allergies, asthma, diabetes, and minor injuries
  • Exceptional communication skills for working with students, staff, and parents
  • Ability to maintain accurate, confidential health records
  • Certified School Nurse (CSN) credential is a plus, though not required Key responsibilities:
  • Provide routine and emergency nursing care during the school day
  • Administer medications as prescribed and according to school policy
  • Monitor and document student health concerns
  • Address minor injuries or acute illnesses and determine next steps
  • Collaborate with educators and participate in student health education
  • Promote a safe, healthy school environment through prevention and early intervention
