Google Chrome, Safari Description The Clinical Informatics Nurse will employ nursing knowledge and technical savvy to provide exceptional support to assigned department in the use of the Electronic Health Record system at SIU. This position is on-site only. Examples of Duties Support 50% Provides subject-matter expertise in the use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in a patient care setting.
Provides phone support to providers, residents, medical students, ancillary staff and clinical staff, answering questions related to the EHR.
Travels to SIU clinic areas to assist providers and clinical staff with use of the EHR on-site as necessary.
Troubleshoots issues related to all elements of the EHR, utilizes ticketing system, and documents all courses of action taken, escalating issues as necessary and appropriate.
Coordinates the support provided to SIU by the Clinical Informatics teams at Springfield Clinic and Memorial Health Systems. Ensures completion of open issues.
Works closely with the Clinical Informatics teams at Springfield Clinic and Memorial Health Systems to ensure the best possible EHR support experience for all SIU providers and clinical staff.
Serves as a champion for all SIU Medicine IT teams and initiatives. Maintains a positive and professional attitude at all times while acting as a representative of SIU Medicine.
Tasklists:
Monitor SIU Clinical Informatics task list daily
Monitor Department tasklists and notify management of issues
Work tasklists to troubleshoot issues
Interfaces:
Monitor new interface for accuracy
Test new interfaces before go live
Troubleshoot interface issues with interface teams
Clinic Support:
Clinics call or email SIU CI team directly for all central projects. All users have direct access to the SIU CI
Tickets:
Monitor techsupport tickets for TW clinicalapps tickets
Review department requests for Ops approval
Take request for Ops approval; then to AOC Ops approval if necessary
Submit approved Ops/AOC Ops tickets to MSO or notify requestor and clinic manager if request was denied with explanation
Monitor tickets submitted to MSO
Test as needed for build requests
Enter tickets in on all build items for tracking
Watch for completion of build tickets, and confirm accuracy with requestor/CI/AI before closing the ticket.

Template testing Education 40% Provides education to clinical areas regarding the nature of problems and remedial procedures to prevent future occurrences.
Provides proactive support to all faculty and clinics staff. Provides education and training as needed. Assists in the evaluation and development of clinical informatics-related training programs.
Routinely visits all assigned clinical areas to answer questions, provide training, and assess issues. Observes usage of the system and identifies opportunities for improvement. Follows-up in a timely manner to ensure a "closed loop" on all problems and concerns.
Maintains active communication with clinical administrators regarding potential workflow changes associated with full utilization of the EHR. Assists with measurement of benefits associated with process changes and the implementation of new technologies.
Training:
Trains all new users and providers in a classroom setting.
Works side by side with all new providers their first 3 clinic days.
Education:
Distribute monthly education to all providers and clinic staff
Attend monthly School wide education webinar via phone
Create SIU Medicine job aids as needed
Create department level job aids as needed Administration 10% Works to improve clinical practices through the use of technology.
Maintains knowledge of all EHR features, enhancements, and upgrades to best support clinical areas. Stays abreast of technological advancements and recommends workflow improvement as related to clinical informatics.
Provides leadership in promoting workflow enhancements to clinical areas, ensuring they take full advantage of all available features of the EHR.
Assists all faculty and clinical staff with meeting utilization targets related to regulatory measures, industry benchmarks, and organizational policies.
Maintains familiarity with new industry-related technologies, and recommends to management products which could improve our clinical practices.
Alert management when users or providers are identified as failing to meet behavior or clinical performance standards, or when intervention is needed from the organization to address non-compliance.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Any one or any combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the following categories:
College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
Work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.
Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Illinois; AND
3 years' experience working as an RN, LPN, or Clinical Informatics Nurse; AND
3 years' experience working with an electronic health records (EHR) system; AND (

Knowledge of the systems and operations used within the areas and departments of responsibility.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
