RN-Stepdown Rock Island, IL 61201 $2,500 a week - Travel nursing, Full-time, Contract $2,500 a week - Travel nursing, Full-time, Contract Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for the Stepdown unit to join our dynamic healthcare team. The RN-Stepdown plays a vital role in providing advanced patient care for individuals transitioning from intensive care units to less acute settings. This position offers an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

Pay Rate:
$2500/wk. (36hrs.) Duties Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition regularly, utilizing advanced clinical judgment to identify changes requiring intervention. Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, medication administration, and aseptic techniques. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs. Manage complex cases involving acute pain, respiratory support such as ventilators, and post-procedure care including catheterization and suturing. Document patient care activities thoroughly in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and health maintenance. Perform specialized procedures including phlebotomy, tube feeding management, wound care, and ostomy care as required. Requirements Valid RN license with current state certification; BSN preferred. Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; minimum of 2 years preferred. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner; familiarity with
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding is advantageous. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to acute and post-acute care settings. Experience with specialized procedures such as cardiac catheterization, dialysis management, or spinal taps is desirable. Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or trauma medicine units. Excellent communication skills for effective patient assessment, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining patient safety. Ability to work with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, hospice & palliative medicine patients, and individuals with disabilities. Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
