Job Description

Objectives of the
Position:
The Staff Nurse/Nurse Sonographer ("Nurse") is an important part of the team at Hope Resource Center. The Nurse assists with the provision of patient care by performing pregnancy tests, limited obstetric ultrasound exams, and may perform STI testing & treatment administration. The Nurse will provide patient consultation and patient education as needed. This education may include discussion of pregnancy complications, substance abuse issues, sexually transmitted infections/diseases, pregnancy outcome options including risks associated with an induced abortion and making referrals.

Nurse Manager and Executive Director Minimum Qualifications:
1. Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. 2. Exhibit strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and sexual purity. 3. Expresses full agreement with HRC's Statement of Faith, Principles, Mission Statement and is able to comply with policies and procedures of the center. 4. Have a sincere desire to work with abortion vulnerable and abortion minded women and their families. 5. Respects confidentiality and is able to comply with HIPAA standards. 6. Have an associate's degree or above in nursing. 7. Holds a current Registered Nurse license in good standing with the Indiana State Board of Nursing. 8. Have experience as a volunteer or employee in ministry. 9. Maintain current BLS certification. 10. Preferred experience in labor and delivery, maternal/child health or obstetrics. 11. Be competent in computer skills. 12. Exhibit strong skills in interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, public speaking, and relating with clients of all ages and demographics. 13. Be able to provide spiritual leadership, discipleship, encouragement, and direction to volunteers, peers, and clients/patients. 14. Be dependable and able to carry out responsibilities with little or no supervision. 15. Be able to foster commitment to a common vision and promote teamwork. 16. Will never advise or refer a woman to have an abortion.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. The Staff Nurse provides support and care to patients and maintains professional standards of care. 2. Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Staff Nurse is responsible for a wide variety of center functions to include planning and performing direct nursing interventions. The Staff Nurse will organize, plan and assess and perform nursing services for the center. 3. Checks medical equipment and supplies for the center and reports any needs to the Nurse Manager. 4. Oversees nursing/healthcare services of the center in the absence of the Nurse Manager. 5.
Provides nursing care:
assesses patient needs and makes nursing judgments that reflect safe nursing practice. 6. Maintains accurate medical records. 7. Meets with patients to provide consultation, education and referrals. 8. Ensures that medical equipment is properly maintained. 9. Provides Limited Obstetrical Ultrasounds to patients when medically indicated, if trained to do so. 10. Regularly attend HRC staff devotions, staff meetings and trainings. 11. Be a strong client/patient advocate, always putting the client/patient's needs above all other duties and personal agendas.
Additional Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Provide outreach services as a member of the Hope Mobile team. 2. Provide medical services inside the Lawrence County and Monroe County Jail. 3. Teach Parenting Program classes. 4. Make follow-up phone calls/texts to patients after appointments. 5. Emergency peer counseling. 6. Be available to assist in whatever is needed at the center.
