Job Description

The Infusion RN assists in providing patient assessment and care in accordance with current professional standards, state and federal laws, and in keeping with the mission and values of Greene County General Hospital The infusion RN does patient assessment, teaching, monitoring, and the admixture and delivery of cancer therapeutic and supportive therapies to the patient with a diagnosis of cancer or hematologic abnormality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Evaluates patients in need of intravenous treatment or medication, and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Administer medicines and work with specific treatments that, if wrong could prove fatal. Attention to detail is crucial. Assess the patient's health, as well as detect changes in symptoms, health or pain, and knows when action is necessary. Determines appropriate venipuncture site and administers intravenous therapeutic treatments. Provides information to patients and families regarding intravenous treatment. Has to be sympathetic to a patient's needs, and be able to deal with people in various states of pain, trauma and tragedy. Other duties as may be assigned.
Job Requirements Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
Certification/Licensure :
Indiana licensed RN; CPR and ACLS certification required.
Experience:
At least three (3) years prior experience as an RN in a hospital or hospice setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Intermediate computer skills required.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing and sitting. Ability to bend, stoop, reach and pull. Must be able to life 50 lbs without assistance. Good visual acuity.
