The IU Health Tipton's Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, compassionate, and timely care to patients of all ages in a rural Critical Access Hospital setting. At IU Tipton Hospital, the Emergency Department is a 9-bed unit that serves approximately 8,000 patients annually, offering a dynamic and rewarding environment for nurses who thrive in fast-paced, community-centered care. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to work independently in a resource-limited setting. The RN is responsible for triage, assessment, treatment, and coordination of care for patients presenting with a wide range of medical emergencies.Key Responsibilities:
Perform rapid and accurate patient assessments and triage based on acuity. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with hospital policies and physician orders. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Monitor and document patient responses to interventions and adjust care as needed. Provide patient and family education and emotional support. Respond to emergency situations including trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, and sepsis. Operate and troubleshoot medical equipment (e.g., cardiac monitors, IV pumps, defibrillators). Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Participate in quality improvement initiatives, drills, and continuing education.Unit Culture & Successes:
A highly engaged team with strong retention and a supportive work environment. Nurses are ACLS and NIH certified, committed to continuous learning and improvement. Recognized for compassionate care, including multiple Daisy Award recipients. Active Hospital-Based Council involved in community service and quality initiatives. Qualifications Requires 1 year RN experience. Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
