Essential Functions & Core Responsibilities Departmental Leadership & Daily Operations Oversees daily operations of all women's services departments (including staffing, resource allocation, safety, and clinical quality). Develops and implements departmental goals and objectives that align tightly with the organization's strategic vision. Recruits, trains, and mentors nursing staff members, actively fostering continuing education and professional development pathways. Schedules employees to ensure the effective and safe use of resources; consults with executive leadership on any potential staffing issues. Conducts routine performance evaluations, sets clear professional goals, and provides constructive feedback to staff regarding development. May work in a staff nurse role when operationally required, fulfilling all duties and meeting all established competencies for that role. Collaboration & Patient Advocacy Works collaboratively with providers, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and healthcare stakeholders to optimize interdisciplinary communication and patient care. Responds to and resolves patient care issues, patient/family complaints, and clinical incidents, implementing immediate corrective actions when needed. Works closely with the broader leadership team to coordinate and improve system-wide service delivery. Policy, Strategy, & Financial Oversight Develops, enforces, and updates clinical policies, protocols, and procedures for women's services to optimize quality and efficiencies. Collaborates with hospital executives to set the strategic direction for the department, including budgeting, resource allocation, and long-term capital planning. Monitors departmental expenditures to ensure the cost-effective delivery of high-quality patient services. Evaluates and implements emerging healthcare technologies to enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes. Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance Ensures strict compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, state laws, accreditation requirements, and best practices in women's health care. Oversees and actively participates in the accreditation process with relevant agencies to ensure services meet or exceed industry standards. Leads and participates in audits, inspections, and formal quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and safety. Stays continually up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and healthcare regulatory changes. Job Requirements & Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field OR seven (7) plus years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree preferred. 3-5 years of experience in a closely related clinical field (with a Bachelor's degree) required. 3-5 years of previous healthcare leadership experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications RN (Registered Nurse): Active State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required. BCLS (Basic Life Support): Issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required. NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) OR NALS (Neonatal Advanced Life Support): Issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated track record of strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Proven ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and successfully manage cross-functional relationships. Ability to foster a positive, supportive work environment that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and continuous quality improvement. Excellent communication skills when interacting with executive leadership, team members, and community stakeholders. Ability to work effectively with others, delegate responsibilities appropriately, and independently manage complex tasks while meeting tight deadlines. Advanced problem-solving, time management, and critical thinking skills. In-depth knowledge of women's services industry best practices and healthcare regulatory compliance. Proficiency with Google and Microsoft platforms, healthcare software systems (EMR), and data analysis tools.
