1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position covering a multi-facility zone in Kansas, requiring at least 2 years of MS-Tele experience and a KS or compact RN license. Details Acute care setting with no single home base facility — travelers float across Zone 4, which covers a 60-mile radius centered around Garden City, KS Float zone includes three hospital locations: one in Garden City, one in Dodge City (~54 miles), and one in Ulysses (~54 miles) Float pool encompasses multiple MS-Tele units spanning specialties including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs Patient population is adult and geriatric, with common diagnoses including cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, and ENT Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 based on acuity May be asked to float into other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds within skillset), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele units Charting is done in Epic; prior Epic experience preferred Alaris pump experience preferred Heparin drip titration is required Respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP is present on units Nurse aides are available on units 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule Schedules are set by leadership 4-6 weeks in advance; travelers are expected to remain flexible to fill scheduling gaps Float assignments are communicated per schedule cycle; first assignment confirmed on or before the Monday start date — some shifts may be assigned just-in-time, 1-2 hours before shift start 13-week contract Requirements Active KS RN license or compact (NLC) license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); pending certifications not accepted Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience within the last 3 years required BSN not required Candidates must have a permanent address at least 60 miles from the Garden City, KS zone center to qualify for travel rates; a valid driver's license is required for address verification Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered Additional Information Prior neuro nursing experience is preferred Travelers are responsible for securing housing that allows them to feasibly float throughout the entire 60-mile zone, regardless of where they choose to stay Clinicians must be physically present in the state during the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely All time-off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment May be asked to participate in the holiday rotation On-call or standby is rare and typically related to low census Designated charge nurses are on each unit and typically do not take patient assignments; night shift charge nurses may occasionally carry a small patient load Candidate interview is conducted with the clinical team; no unit manager interview involved
