Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Telemetry to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions, ensuring optimal health outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in acute care, critical care experience, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner. Your expertise in patient assessment, medication administration, and advanced nursing procedures will contribute significantly to our commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care across diverse clinical settings. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine care needs. Monitor patients' cardiac rhythms using telemetry equipment and respond promptly to arrhythmias or other critical changes. Administer medications accurately, including IV infusions, injections, and specialized treatments such as Botulinum toxin therapy. Perform complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile dressing changes following aseptic techniques. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with best practices in acute care, geriatrics, and trauma medicine. Maintain meticulous medical documentation within EMR/EHR systems like Epic and Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and their families on health management strategies, discharge instructions, and preventive care measures. Assist with triage assessments in emergency or urgent care settings; coordinate transfers for Level I or Level II trauma cases when necessary. Support laboratory specimen collection/processing, infection control protocols, and adherence to NCQA standards for quality assurance. Participate in case management activities related to discharge planning, hospice & palliative medicine considerations, or long-term care transitions. Qualifications Current RN licensure in good standing with relevant state boards; BLS certification required; ACLS preferred. Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency room settings; trauma center experience highly desirable. Familiarity with advanced cardiac monitoring techniques including cardiac catheterization procedures. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic and Cerner; experience with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is advantageous. Knowledge of complex nursing procedures including ventilator management, ostomy care, dialysis support, and spinal tap procedures. Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and diagnostic evaluation processes. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics (including memory & dementia care), individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities. Ability to perform IV insertions, venipuncture (phlebotomy), specimen collection/processing, and medication administration accurately. Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration across hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings.
