This advanced medical center is recognized as Johnson County's only Level II Trauma Center and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and offers specialized services including stroke care, chest pain treatment, neonatal intensive care, and maternal-fetal medicine. The surgical team performs a wide variety of procedures across multiple specialties, providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operating Room nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Position Overview The Operating Room Registered Nurse plays a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care throughout the surgical experience. Working alongside surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and fellow nursing professionals, this position supports patients before, during, and after surgery while ensuring adherence to clinical and safety standards. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to surgical patients throughout the perioperative process Assess patients prior to surgery and prepare individualized plans of care Educate patients and families regarding procedures, expectations, and recovery Administer preoperative medications and intravenous therapies as ordered Verify patient identity, surgical procedures, and operative sites in accordance with safety protocols Participate in surgical briefings, time-outs, debriefings, and universal protocol processes Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond appropriately to changes in condition Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes Maintain accurate documentation and uphold regulatory and organizational standards Assist in managing patient emergencies and urgent situations within the operating room setting Qualifications Current Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license required Registered Nurse Diploma required Minimum of one year of recent Operating Room experience with both circulating and scrub responsibilities required Acute care nursing experience required Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire Benefits Flexible scheduling options with both day and night shift opportunities Self-scheduling and preferential scheduling available, posted four weeks in advance Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance Retirement savings plans Paid time off and holiday benefits Tuition assistance and continuing education opportunities Professional development and career advancement support Employee wellness and assistance programs Opportunity to work in a nationally recognized trauma and specialty care environment
Schedule Day Shift:
Five 8-hour shifts beginning at 6:45
AM Night Shift:
Three 12-hour shifts beginning at 7:00 PM On-call responsibilities required during designated non-business hours This opportunity is ideal for an Operating Room nurse seeking exposure to a diverse surgical caseload while working alongside an experienced team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
